The research in the Bio-Microsystem Laboratory is focused on the applications
of electrochemistry and microfabrication to µTAS (micro total analysis
systems), cell-based assays, and tissue engineering. Our long-term goals
are to fabricate bio/chemical analysis systems which work everywhere including
in the body. We are also interested in understanding the structure/function
relationship of cells to improve cell-based therapy for several diseases
such as liver failure. We utilize microfabrication tools and electrochemical
reactions to study the role of cell-cell interactions, cell-extracellular
matrix interactions, soluble stimuli, and to build up three-dimensional
tissues. |
